No frame rate cap;[5] however, frame rates above 130 FPS will prevent the game from fully loading in models and assets that are far away, even if the player reaches them. Most of the interior areas won't be rendered either. Mouse sensitivity is also tied to frame rate and will be reduced the higher the frame rate gets.[citation needed] See Mouse sensitivity for a workaround.[dubious – discuss]

Issues fixed

Mouse sensitivity tied to frame rate

Mouse sensitivity will be reduced the higher the frame rate gets.
Use Cheat Engine[citation needed]
  1. Download and run Cheat Engine
  2. Start the game, get to a playable area and then go to "Options", "Controls" and set "X Axis Sensitivity" and "Y Axis Sensitivity" to any value, e.g. 10. Go back to the previous menu.
  3. Run Cheat Engine and search for 10.000000 as a float.
  4. Go back to the game and set both sensitivity values to something else, e.g. 1. Go back to the previous menu.
  5. Search for 1.000000 next.
  6. Continue the above process until only two values are left.
  7. Set both of them to any desired value e.g. 30.
  8. Start playing the game to a point where it automatically saves its progress. If this step is skipped, the entire process will have to be repeated with the next launch for changes to take effect.
Do not open the "Controls" menu again as it will revert the sensitivity values to one of the predefined ones.
The sensitivity values are shared between the mouse, arrow keys and the right analog stick of a controller; however, the latter two are not affected by changing the frame rate. Increasing mouse sensitivity could, in turn, make them overly sensitive.

Crash after 15 minutes on Windows 10

May be caused by a weird interaction between one version of XAudio2_7.dll and the on-screen keyboard service.
Check if this is indeed the cause of the crash with Windows error log[citation needed]
  1. Open the Start menu, type msinfo32, and press Enter.
  2. In Software Environment\Windows Error Reporting look for entries with ACU.exe and check that the faulty module is XAudio2_7.dll.
Stop TabTip.exe[citation needed]
  • Stop the TabTip.exe process, also referred to as Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Helper, before launching the game.

Notes

To simplify this process, create a batch command to run the game.
taskkill /f /im "tabtip.exe"
cd /d "{{P|game}}\Assassin's Creed Unity"
start ACU.exe
  • Use your actual installation folder and save as a .cmd. Launch it as an administrator.
To simplify this process, create a shortcut to the .cmd and choose Run as an administrator in the shortcut's advanced options.

Game fails to launch if installed on a Storage Spaces drive

The game will fail to launch if installed on a Storage Spaces drive. This will either cause the ACU.exe process to get stuck on the splash screen or in the background.
Storage Spaces is Microsoft's new software-based RAID solution for Windows 10, allowing users to create and make use of virtual disk drive(s) that spans across multiple physical drives in a desired RAID configuration.
Move the installation folder to a regular non-Storage Spaces drive[6]
  1. Copy the <path-to-game> folder over to a new appropriate location on a non-Storage Spaces drive.
  2. When the game folder have been copied over completely, open Uplay and select the game.
  3. Click on Properties and then on Uninstall to remove the existing game install folder.
  4. After the uninstall have been completed, click on Locate installed game below the Download button.
  5. Browse to and select the new <path-to-game> folder, then click on OK.
  6. The game will be playable again after Uplay have verified that all game files are present.

Game changes resolution to lowest compatible (ex: 320x200)

Edit configuration file[citation needed]
  1. Open %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Assassin's Creed Unity\ACU.ini.
  2. Edit these lines and set the resolution as preferred:
    DisplayWidth=XXXXX
    DisplayHeight=XXXXX

  3. Save the file and change the file to read-only.

Game won't work with DS4 v2 Controller

The game has native support for DS4 controllers on PC with it loading the PlayStation button prompts in-game, but only on connecting the DualShock 4 version 1 model. On connecting a version 2 controller, the game will load the Xbox button prompts and not work correctly.
Follow this guide on Steam.
For the Uplay version of the game, do not follow the first step of disabling the Steam Input.

Issues unresolved

Massive pop-in and poor LOD quality, even on highest available graphics settings

Assassin's Creed Unity is plagued by very noticeable pop-in and poor level of detail at all times. As this appears to be hardcoded, currently and likely forever unfixable.[7]

Reset progress for a new game

Unity does not inherently support multiple save files. This fix allows you to backup a current save file and start over with a new one.
Backup save[8]
  1. Go to UPlay's Settings > General and untick Enable Cloud Save Synchronization for supported games to disable cloud saves.
  2. Navigate to save game data location and make a backup of the folder then delete it.
  3. Start the game and play until it saves once.
  4. Re-enable Cloud Saves and allow the local save file to overwrite the online one. Repeat the process above to restore original save file.

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/289650/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (289650) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
