Issues fixed

Game does not start after putting in the CD Key

Enable the compatibility setting Run this program as an administrator
This allows the game to write into its configuration and scoreboard files.

Game running too fast

The game can run faster than intended on modern hardware. This is not game breaking, but does make the game more difficult.[4] This can be fixed by forcing Vsync on through your GPU driver, or with a DirectX hook such as DxWnd.

Configuring DxWnd
  1. Set up DxWnd to run the game executable, as per the DxWnd page.
  2. Enable the compatibility setting Run this program as an administrator on the DxWnd executable itself, and start it again.
  3. On the game configuration's Main tab, make sure Run in Window is checked.
  4. On DirectX(2) tab, set VSync to ON.
  5. On the same tab, make sure WaitForVerticalBlank is chosen.
  6. On DirectX tab, make sure GDI is selected as renderer.
  7. Press OK to save the configuration.

Notes

Run in Window appears to prevent DxWnd from unhooking spontaneously when changing in-game settings and on level transitions.
The default window size of 800x600, set on Main tab, results in scaling artifacts. A clean multiple of the original 640x480 resolution is recommended, such as 1280x960.
On Video tab, setting FPS counter to overlay or titlebar can help diagnose game speed issues. The framerate should be equal to your screen's refresh rate.
