Set Windows' power plan to Max Performance
This problem affects most ENIGMA and GameMaker games.
  1. Go to Control Panel → System & Security → Power Options
  2. Change from "Balanced" to "High performance"
Run the game with admin privileges[1]
  1. Running the game with admin rights has been known to increase the framerate and reduce slowdowns.
