Run the game at screen refresh rate

Max refresh rate is 60 Hz; this does not affect game render FPS, but determines your monitor's refresh rate.
Set refresh rate manually[citation needed]
  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Open Video.scr with a text editor.
  3. Change MaxRefresh(60) to the screen refresh rate.
Possible fix for 60Hz cap[citation needed]
  1. Create a custom resolution using your graphics card's control panel, so that only one resolution with that specific refresh rate exists. For example: on a 1080p monitor, create a desktop resolution of 1920x1079 with a refresh rate of 144 or 240 or 360 (or any value).
  2. Set that specific resolution in the game; since only that specific instance of that specific resolution exists, the game will force whichever refresh rate you set that resolution to.

Assertion Error At Start-Up

Game does not work on some drives[citation needed]
  1. Install game to C drive
  2. If the game does not work on the C drive, install it to a vhd.

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/21980/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (21980) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
